PLEASE HELP RECYCLE!
Drop off your plastic bags and canning jars at the orchard and we'll re-use them!
We're always looking for wagons for people to use when they go to our pumpkin patch - feel free to drop off your old or un-used wagons at the orchard!
We're also happy to take any picnic tables you're getting rid of - even if it's just the 'bones' of the table.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Transitioning - Recycled Tire Wall
As I've mentioned before, we are in the process of transitioning our store operation from the Bohling Road Orchard Location to the Kroncke Road Location...to be completed and ready for the 2010 apple season.
We put on a minor addition to our shed (another 40' x 60' section) and the grading just wasn't working to my husbands' preference. He decided to put up a small retaining wall and asked me what I thought would work.
Not too long ago we were at a friends house that has an old tire retaining wall. I thought it was neat looking the very first time I saw it and what a great way to use old, unusable tires! So, that's what I suggested...an old tire wall. For some reason, Frank's Uncle Buddy had lots and lots of tires stored in his shed...not sure why but we were able to reuse them all!

We set the wall up and then fill them up with some clear stone. This way drainage can still occur but little critters will not be able to live in them.
What do you think of our new wall?

Great use of tires!
Have you seen the "earth ships" (homes made from used tires) in the desert?
What a great use of those tires! You could even plant roses of other plants in them, kind of a "step" garden with the two tiers.
Love this idea!
