PLEASE HELP RECYCLE!

Drop off your plastic bags and canning jars at the orchard and we'll re-use them!

We're always looking for wagons for people to use when they go to our pumpkin patch - feel free to drop off your old or un-used wagons at the orchard!

We're also happy to take any picnic tables you're getting rid of - even if it's just the 'bones' of the table.

Thanks!

Pumpkin Apple Pie Recipe

Can’t decide if you want to make a pumpkin pie or an apple pie for tomorrow’s feast?  Try this – a little of both!

Ingredients

1 pie crust – homemade or Pillsbury does a pretty good job too

2 medium apples or 2 cups drained canned apple slices

1 tsp. butter

2 cups pumpkin puree, canned or fresh

1 1/2 cups milk

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp tsp ground ginger

1.  Preheat oven to 425-degrees.  Grease a 10-inch pie plate.

2.  Roll out the pastry and fit it into the pie plate.  Trim and flute the edges.  Refrigerate.

3.  Peel, core, and cut the apples into slices.  Place in a skillet with the butter, cover and cook over low heat for 5 minutes.  Remove from the heat and drain.  If you are using canned apples, simply drain and set aside.

4.  Place the pumpkin, cream, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger in a medium-sized mixing bowl.  Beat together until smooth.

5.  Arrange the apple slices in the bottom of the chilled pastry shell and pour the pumpkin mixture over them.

6.  Bake for 15 minutes.  Reduce oven to 375-degrees and bake for 35-40 minutes longer, or until knife inserted into the center comes out clean.  Allow to cool before serving.

*TRICK*  If after the allotted cooking time (or even 10 minutes longer) your pie doesn’t seem to be setting – turn your oven off but leave your pie in it.  It will help set the pumpkin without over cooking it.

I made this for the family and got raving reviews!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hoedown Sneak Peeks – Fabric, Barns, Trees, and Rings

Some of the artists have delivered their items to the shop already for the Hand Crafted Hoedown for the Holidays and I wanted to give you all a few more ‘sneak peeks’ before we open up tomorrow!   IMG_1670Some adorable fleece dog hoodies are for sale this year!  The artist borrowed her Grandson’s Clifford to show you how it will look on your dog! IMG_1674 These Embroidery Hoop Quilted Art ‘To Do’ hangers are one of my new creations this year.  I free motion quilted ‘TO DO’ on the buntings and then added mini clothespins so you can hang your to do lists or shopping lists on them.  A cute little decoration for a kitchen or crafting area.  IMG_1696Diane brought over the fabric that she hand dyed herself.  This is premium fabric used for quilting and other sewing projects.  It’s rich, superbly made, and unique.  These hand dyes add lots of dimension to any project.  We’ll also have patterns for sale as well as quilts we’ve made from our hand-dyes to help give you ides.   IMG_1701Come and check out the quilt rack we have.  These are ‘made to order’ so stop and get the info to add this to your home and show off your quilts.   IMG_1703 A few days ago I showed off the reading cubby my girls now have.  Above is an amazing play barn made by the same man.  I may have to snatch one up for the girls myself…there are even hay bales AND the doors on the lower floor open and close!  So cool!IMG_1709Another one of my new items this year are Christmas Trees.  I have a few different options for you – fabric, feathers, rosettes, and even typewriter keys.  These make great, unique holiday decorations! IMG_1725A friend of mine is new to the sale this year.  KTG Designs made these amazing mixed metal rings as well as some other beautiful jewelry!
I hope these ‘Sneak Peek’s have you gotten as excited as I am about the sale.  I’ll try to do one more post later tonight as more great art arrives.  We’ll be set up and ready to go tomorrow at 9am!  See you all there!

Hoedown Sneak Peek – CJs Eco Chic

IMG_1630Many of you have already discovered the magic of CJs Eco Chic’s soy candles.  This apple season she introduced something new to her line – wood wicks.  I immediately snatched one up and I LOVE it!  It burns for hours and hours on end!  I have burnt my larger wood wick candle for four full days and it is still going.  And the scent fills my house wonderfully.

IMG_1631I’m really excited that Jenn made a new size wood wick candle for our sale this weekend – some little mini ones!  These are going to make the best stocking stuffers and secret santa gifts!   IMG_1635 Be sure to come by the shop this weekend for the Handcrafted Hoedown for the Holiday’s Sale and stock up on candles.  IMG_1643

These are also great gifts for that person that gets you a gift but you didn’t get them a gift.  A wonderful thing to stock up on so you’re always prepared!
