PLEASE HELP RECYCLE!

Drop off your plastic bags and canning jars at the orchard and we'll re-use them!

We're always looking for wagons for people to use when they go to our pumpkin patch - feel free to drop off your old or un-used wagons at the orchard!

We're also happy to take any picnic tables you're getting rid of - even if it's just the 'bones' of the table.

Thanks!

APPLESAUCE! APPLESAUCE! APPLESAUCE!

APPLESAUCE! APPLESAUCE! APPLESAUCE!

Yes, I had to write it six times because we've been making TONS of it. Technically, Diane and Frank and sometimes Jared have been making TONS of it. They have spent many days down in our commercial kitchen while I've been upstairs entertaining my kiddos. (I know, I got the good end of the deal!)

We've been making much more than just sauce too! Apple Pie in A Jar, Apple Butter, Carmel Apple Preserves, and more (maybe Diane can fill in here :))

When the canning begins there is no question as to who is in charge - Diane of course. I have said it before but this lady continually amazes me. Did you know that she rendered the lard she uses in her pie crust for her famous apple pie by herself!? Do you know anyone that does that anymore? I think it's absolutely incredible. Anyway...I'm rambling. Diane is in charge. She directs each of us to do peeling, cutting, stirring, filling, and dealing with the actual canning process. When they are canning they don't just do a half days worth either...they do it for the ENTIRE day. I'm lucky if I can convince them to hop upstairs for a quick bite to eat!

Now I am going to reveal to you our secret ingredients to our amazing homemade applesauce...APPLES! and lots of 'em! We like to use as many different kinds of apples possible when making our sauce (does this ring a bell...maybe the same secret to our amazing cider). This creates such an amazing blend of flavors that sugar is not even necessary. That's right...the only ingredients in our sauce are APPLES!

Make sure to stop by this fall to get a jar to try out for yourself!

I was just thinking about Diane's applesauce the other day. Karma used to stock our fridge with it in college, it was so good!
