A few days ago the girls, Jared and I went out to pick the very first crop of pears we’ve gotten from the few trees we planted. The girls were good helpers at first! Then, the six-wheeler occupied them for a while so we were able to get them all off the tree.

We are currently trying to ripen the pears so we can determine whether their quality is good enough to sell. We found that you pick pears before they are ripe because the rot from the inside out…if they are falling, it could be too late. I hope ours taste good…I really like pears. I’ll keep you posted! I must say, it was a lot of fun picking those pears!

I've had a couple of guesses and now I'm going to tell you the answers!

As some of you have noticed I have a box on the counter at the orchard to collect recipes containing; apples, squash, cider, pumpkins, blueberries, raspberries, zucchini, peaches, pears, and plums (anything we grow at the orchard), for our next cookbook.
