Happy May everyone! A few blossoms are just starting to pop open … literally just a few. Which means by NEXT weekend we should have an orchard full! Yes! We’re going to make some apple cider donuts in May! They will be $5 for a bag of 6 donuts. The profit from these sales will go to SMASH Softball. If you’d like to order some donuts please email me: lapaceksorchard@gmail.com with the number of bags you’d like and if you think you’ll be there to pick them up on either Thursday or Friday.
Photography
Remember – we have a new photography policy at the orchard. Please go to this POST to find out more about photo shoots at the orchard.
One of the mother’s of SMASH is an amazing photographer at White Willow Studios and will be running mini sessions on Friday, May 18th with half of the proceeds going to the SMASH softball team! Contact Leslie to find out how you can get in on these fun, quick sessions!
I think I have one more fun thing up my sleeve for the big weekend but I’ll keep you posted! Hope to see you at the orchard!
Pardeeville Gymnastics Booster Club Food Stand
Today we had the Pardeeville Gymnastics Booster Club at the orchard selling hot dogs, BBQ and baked goods. I don’t know how many of you know but our two oldest daughters – Mercedi and Capri – are on the Level 3 competition team at this club.
The Pardeeville Gym has been a great place for them to learn skill, discipline and of course have fun. For the past few years I’ve watched my girls grow from not being able to do a cartwheel to completing a round off back handspring without any help. We also LOVE gymnastics during the winter months as our girls have a lot of energy – this has been a great way for them to work some of that off without driving Jared and I crazy!
One of the mother’s at the orchard with the club today took some amazing pictures and I wanted to share her work. These are taken by Cheri Buffington of Cheri B Photography.
It’s also been great for the girls to make friends from other school districts! They really do get to work and play with a great group of ladies!
Even the little sisters get along!
Thank you Cheri for sharing these pictures with us!
And thank you to everyone who came out to support the club today!
Poynette Library – DECORATE A BIRDHOUSE FUNdraising Event!
The Friends of the Poynette Library enlisted local artists to help with this fabulous fundraising event.
Here were our instructions:
- Sign out a birdhouse (or build one yourself)
- Donate your time, materials and creativity on behalf of the Friends.
- Decorate the birdhouse with tiles, paints, stencils, pebbles, straw, etc.
- Return it to the library on or before May 14, 2009
I received a friendly ‘reminder’ on Monday night that my birdhouse was due back at the library no later than Thursday! I had completely forgotten about it so I was very happy for the call. I had shown up the library late and there were only a few small birdhouses left to decorate and I knew I wouldn’t have time to come up with my own (at least this year…I already have a few ideas if they do it again next year…) so I took a small one home.
Wednesday was ‘Grandma Day’ for the girls so I finally had some time to paint my birdhouse. I painted it with a fabulous mixture of dark blue and celery colored paint. I then used modge podge to attach this fabulous bird print from a piece of fabric onto the top of the houses’ roof…of course I added some glitter to my modge podge…it wouldn’t be my birdhouse without that! If you want to see more pictures of this birdhouse click HERE!
My mother-in-law, Diane, was a bit more ambitious and creative than I! She painted this fabulous apple gourd and made it into a birdhouse! I think it looks fantastic. If I were you would I would keep your eyes peeled this fall for some more of these at our Orchard store!
Before I picked the girls up, I delivered our birdhouses to the library. Here are some pictures of the other’s that people decorated!
These birdhouses will be displayed and ON SALE on May 15th and 16th at the Friends of the Library Annual Plant and Book Sale.
This sale will be in the Presbyterian Church Basement at 224 N. Main St, Poynette, WI. Friday from 8-5 and Saturday from 8-2.
All the proceeds go to benefit the Poynette Area Public Library.
Thank you for supporting your Friends of the Library in this unique endeavor!
