PLEASE HELP RECYCLE!

Drop off your plastic bags and canning jars at the orchard and we'll re-use them!

We're always looking for wagons for people to use when they go to our pumpkin patch - feel free to drop off your old or un-used wagons at the orchard!

We're also happy to take any picnic tables you're getting rid of - even if it's just the 'bones' of the table.

Thanks!

Apple Blossoms

The orchard is absolutely heavenly right! And we are so excited to share it with you all. I do have to add a few more rules for being out in the orchard right now for both photographers and the public.

1. There is absolutely no climbing in the trees.
2. Do not pick the blossoms of the trees. These blossoms are the future apples. Once the bees pollinate the blossoms they become apples. Not every blossom will be pollinated and we do not want to risk damage to our apple crop because pollinated blossoms were picked.

Thank you all so much for respecting our orchard and allowing us to continue sharing it with the public!

Blossom Update at Lapacek’s Orchard

The orchard is slowly starting to bloom out.  It’s just begun so hopefully we can work out a time so everyone who wants to visit and takes pictures gets an opportunity!

It is definitely not at it’s ‘peek’ blossom yet … but if you want to take some pictures of blossoms or even get some family pictures taken in them I’m sure you’d be able to find a section or two that would work for a backdrop!IMG_8939

Lots of the trees look like this … so there are more blossoms to come.

My favorite trees in the orchard – the Scarlets are starting to bloom!  I just love their gorgeous pink blooms!!!!

So – when can you come out?  This week!

The orchard will be open (not the store):

Tuesday, May 5th: 4pm to 7:30pm

Wednesday, May 6th: 4pm to 7:30pm

Friday, May 7th: 4pm to 7:30pm

Saturday, May 8th: 7am to 11:30am

Sunday, May 9th: 7am to 11:30am

Just a little fun editing my blossom pictures. These are from the Scarlet trees … which aren’t in full bloom yet … they just look so cool it’s easy to get some sweet shots!

Day 1 of Tree Planting

Hello all!  I’ve been busy sewing, quilting and designing this winter but yesterday and today I’m dedicated to the orchard.  It’ time to plant the trees!

We’re only planting about 300 this year.

Here are some pictures from our progress yesterday.  We had a super good helper you may recognize as Pip.

planting pip 1Here is Pip at the start of the day!  She was excited to have her own shovel.

After 10 trees she decided she was hot and needed to change.

And of course, being the diva she is she changed back for the last set up trees we put in.  At least it was the same outfit as earlier in the day!

I have a new friend on instagram and she always does these really fun selfies with just the top of her head.  I had to do just one of me driving the Kubota 900.

And – to end the gorgeous day I took this stunning picture of my magnolia tree in bloom!  Isn’t that amazing!?

Calm down, calm down.  The apple trees are nowhere near bloom yet.  I promise I will let you know when they’re getting close!

Winter equals Pruning

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything about the orchard.  For me personally, winter time equals quilting.  Things are really starting to happen in my quilting world so everyday just seems full and exciting!

For the guys (Jared and Frank) the winter equals pruning.  Of course – we’ve had another crazy cold winter so pruning hasn’t been quite as easy to do as it has in the past.

I should rephrase that – the timing for the pruning to happen has been tough.  With negative temperatures in the forecast for so many weeks the pruning had to be postponed.  But now – with the gorgeous weather the guys have gotten back at it!

The rows you are used to walking through all look like this right now …
