Chalk It Up
The second session of Kids in the Orchard involved attempting to chalk our entire driveway! Folks got started as soon as they arrived!I went on pinterest and even found a few recipes to make my very own chalk!
and Make your Own Pavement Chalk
I would say that it worked pretty well – the ice chalk would have worked better if it would have been warmer out. As it was we sort of just left in in random places to let it melt a bit before we tried to use it. On a hot day, I’m pretty sure it would have been usable without the melting time necessary.
Kids of all ages joined in the fun!Even the adults got into the chalking fun!So proud of her dolphin! I love it!!!!Oh Kelin! I had an ‘Inspiration Station’ with ideas written on popsicle sticks that the kids could pick out of the jar. One of them was ‘spool of thread.’ I was of course thrilled to see all the fabulous spools around the driveway! Here the kids are squirting on vinegar to the chalk to see it fizz. This particular home made chalk included a bit of baking powder so when it was sprayed with vinegar it would fizz! So fun!
Pip and Capri really getting into it!Cedi said she liked chalk day because she could just relax, draw, and hang out with her friend Georgia.
Snack time! This week for snack time we did a twist on the delicious pickle roll up! We picked some lettuce from Mercedi’s garden and the kids could pick what they wanted to roll up in it…
- cream cheese
- hummus
- olives
- pickles
- pickled beans
- all of the above
- a mixture of some of the items above
I think Evelyn enjoyed it!
We also had the kiddo’s paint the ‘Beverage’ stand…I’ll post ‘finished’ pictures later…
Stay tuned for what we have planned for next Wednesday!!!
